Google Glass rumored to be priced at $299

Sharing Is Caring

Google Glass which is likely to be launch by the end of the year is rumored to be priced at $299. The price seems to be much affordable as its extremely less than the $1500 developers paid for the early “Explorer Edition”.

This price is not officially confirmed by Google yet, as its only a suggestion came from Taiwan’s Topology Research Institute. Its price is basically based upon bill of materials as the projector inside the glass costs around $30 to $35 to manufacture and is made by Taiwan based Himax Display.

“ We believe wearable devices will face the first wave of growth in the coming one to three years due to their innovative features, and will then experience a rapid growth in the next phase when the market becomes more mature,” chief Topology Research analyst Jason Tsai said.

Last month on 22nd of July Google announced that it had agreed to buy a 6.3-percent stake in Himax Display. According to Research firm IHS Inc. forecast, shipments of smart glasses will increase by 150 percent to 124,000 units this year, driven mostly by sales to developers.
